2007 MCAI-MN Media Festival Procedures and Criteria

All entries are viewed by independent judging panels from around the country. The panels evaluate programs for originality, achievement of objectives, production values, and effective use of the medium. For non-linear entries special attention is paid to content organization, graphic design and production, user interfaces/interactivity and overall design. Programs entered should achieve their communication objectives while demonstrating the highest standards of technical quality, production values and techniques, creativity and craftsmanship. Programs meeting those objectives will be recognized with a Gold, Silver or Bronze Northern Lights award.

2007 MCAI-MN Media Festival Rules

  1. Enter as many programs as you like. Entries are not limited to 2006/07 productions. Enter any (unawarded) program from any year.
  2. Entries must be submitted on VHS, CD-ROM (PC compatible), DVD or URL. Each program entered must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Panels will view the first five minutes of a linear program on a tape or disc. You may place your favorite five-minute segment at the front of the tape or disc. If you have a particular path you’d like the panelists to follow for an interactive program, please note this on the entry form.
  3. Programs entered in more than one category must be submitted on separate tapes or discs with a separate entry form. An additional entry fee must be paid for each category.
  4. Clearly label both the entry and the storage/mailing case with the name of the individual or organization entering the program, program title, category, and program length (if applicable).
  5. Entries will not be returned. All winning entries will be donated to the MCAI-MN Northern Lights Library for loan to chapter members.
  6. All finalists will be notified three weeks prior to the Northern Lights Festival Ceremony. Video and DVD finalists must submit a BetaSP for inclusion in the ceremony. Web and CD-ROM finalists must submit 10-15 still frames (jpg or tiff), and audio if applicable, that is representative of the entry.
