About MCAI - Minnesota Chapter

Media communicators in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota have formed professional associations for over thirty years. The names of the groups mirror the evolution of trends and technology in media communications: the Minnesota Videographic Society (1969-1973), the Minnesota Video Media Society (1973-1979), the Minnesota Chapter of the International Television Association (1979 - 2000) and the Minnesota Chapter of the Media Communications Association-International.

The roots of today's MCAI-MN include the local chapter of the ITVA, largely consisting of corporate and institutional video producers, and the International Interactive Communications Society, an organization that served the first generation of interactive media and Web professionals. During Chris Jones tenure as president (1991-92), ITVA-Minnesota was awarded Chapter of the Year at the international ITVA conference. Jones went on to serve as President of the national ITVA in 1997-98.
Another member of the Minnesota chapter, Debra Harper, served on the ITVA national board in the late'90s and recently participated in the reorganizational efforts of MCA-I. In 1993-94 the IICS-Twin Cities launched its original Web site, the forerunner of this site. In 2000-01 the Twin Cities IICS joined forces with ITVA-Minnesota and became the Minnesota chapter of the Media Communication Association- International. In 2004 MCAI-MN celebrated its 25th year of expanding the art and professional expertise of Minnesota media communicators.
